Jane Makena

I’m Jane Makena, owner of Mnazibowls Kenya, an outstanding business of upcycled bowls handmade from discarded coconut shells. I am born and raised in Kenya. I was inspired to create this business for two reasons. I wanted to unapologetically create awareness of conscious consumerism. A lifestyle where consumers deliberately make purchasing decisions that I believe have a positive social, economic, and environmental impact; shopping with sustainably in mind. There are so many people, like me, that value the benefits of conscious consumerism and the well-being of the environment, such as; reducing one’s environmental footprint and buying better value products. So why not a business that supports this lifestyle through good quality products with a lifetime value? My family and partner were my second source of inspiration. They have had a positive effect on my life. They inspire and support me to be better, to do more with my life, to follow my dreams, to be passionate, and to keep pushing through challenges. At Mnazibowls, we encourage you to live a life of freedom, to define your own life, and not let others write your script. Also, to attempt the absurd to achieve the impossible! Because if not us, who?
