My names are Agnes Wanjala Harro, founder and owner of a small start-up business KIAVA ORGANICS. I am a friendly, mature, honest and hardworking individual. I am also a punctual, reliable and responsible, also being a self-motivated person who is able to adapt appropriately to challenging situations. I am a team player person with good people skills, able to speak both English and Kiswahili fluently with perfect listening and communication skills.
My start-up mainly focuses on virgin coconut oil production and its sales and marketing. It is currently running and has been running for the past three years. This business is located in Kaloleni sub-county and we do deliveries to our customers all over Kenya. Our target customers are mostly working class individuals above the age of twenty five (most married women and aspiring mothers because our goal is to be a house hold name). The product however is suitable for all age groups, genders and races. We emphasise more on the nutritional and medicinal values it provides.
Our product comes in branded, sealed and packed bottles of 250 ml and 500ml. we hope to grow and diversify our organic product range in the future. The business currently employs two to three casual labours, contractual coconut farmer suppliers, and freelance accountant for book keeping.
My inspiration for this business was out of the need to gain financial freedom and independence when I found myself within a locale that had no employable job opportunities. Out of this need I developed an interest in entrepreneurship to create opportunities for myself and especially other women in my community who were facing the same challenges.
I am always looking forward to learning more skills which will aid in helping me achieve my dream of leaving a legacy for my children who are my motivation.
